What is reproductive support?
And why might I want it?
There are several layers to what doulas do for their clients in different scenarios. Primarily, my job is to make sure that you are comfortable and supported. In preparation for a clinical visit, that can look like:
- helping you organize a list of questions about birth control options for your providers.
- giving you tools to advocate for yourself when you're having pelvic pain.
- a brief overview of some things that I think your provider might mention so that you feel prepared.
- confirming with everyone in the office prior to your visit that they are aware of your preferred pronouns or any dysphoria that you might experience during the visit.
- Space to process your experiences, good or bad.
Taking care of your reproductive health can be a stressful task for some people, especially if you've ever experienced feeling unheard in a clinical setting. My job is to make sure that that never happens.
